German term

periodische bzw. aperiodische Seen

German to English Science Geography
text dealing with Alpine scenery and in it they mention different kinds of lake - "periodische" and "aperiodische". ´The text is destined ´for tourists to the Austrian Tyrol so the term shouldn't be too technical. Are they perhaps talking about seasonal and non-seasonal (permanent?) lakes?

disagree Ken Cox : IMO 'seasonal and permanent' (the asker's suggestion) is perfect. 'Temporary' does not express the idea of recurrence inherent in 'periodisch'.
