explanation

A "vehiculo articulado" is a kind of vehicle wich consists of several parts, like those extremely long buses or those huge trucks.

tractor-trailer vehicles

The vehicle has a tractor (pulling unit) and one or more trailers (trailing unit). In the US, that's what truckers and highway patrolmen use in their lingo.
