Spanish term

...se da en un vacío histórico...

Spanish to English Social Sciences Psychology
This comes from an essay on the history of the psycology profession in Puerto Rico. I am completely stumped. The complete sentence is:
Ninguna disciplina se da en un vacío histórico y la psicología clínica, subespecialidad de la psicología, no es la excepción.
Thanks again!

Hey Robert, I am new to this, so I didn't realize the benefits or reasons for keeping open the question. I saw something I liked and jumped on it. Next time I'll be more patient!! Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Hi Marla,
I'm not sure if there was some sort of urgency with this project, but I wish you had waited a while before closing this ? to allow colleagues to agree or to provide feedback on the answers provided........
Lydia De Jorge Sep 10, 2008:
You can also turn it around and say it is born within historical context...
