A retainer is utilized to located the magnet in the magnet slot in a radial direction. The retainer is disposed in the magnet slot radially between the magnet and the slot lip. In some embodiments, the retainer is formed from a material having low magnetic properties, for example, stainless steel, plastic, glass-filled nylon. These materials are utilized to prevent magnetic arcing between the rotor poles 26 and 28 which have opposing polarity, and thereby reducing the magnetic performance of the rotor 12.

: Also magnetische Feldstärke gleich Null? Wie das? Ein Magnetfeld herrscht doch immer, oder? Wenn du zwei Magnetpole unterschiedlicher Polarität durch Stoffe geringer magnetischer Permeabilität verbindest, verhinderst du einen magnetischen Kurzschluss.
