As opposed to the ones used to make wine. Dessert grapes are more carefully grown and selected. In fact, the white ones are covered on the vine with white paper bags to avoid blemishes.

In the grape and wine world they are known as table grapes. In Spanish, by the way, you use the singular for this, "uva de mesa" -- but it is said in plural in English, table grapes. Don't ask me why.
