English term

Researcher, Humanities Dept.

English to Spanish Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Business card for Peru
I work as a researcher at the university and as I work in Latin America, I'm getting a Spanish business card... however, I want to make sure that it's ok.

Here's how my name will appear:

Facultad de Letras
Mateus Lee
Investigador

Does this look ok? I know you can't see the formatting - but trust me that it looks nice so long as the Spanish is 100% ok.

Is "Facultad de Letras" the correct term for "Humanities Dept" and is "investigador" a suitable title for "researcher" in Peruvian Spanish?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): María Diehn

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Matt, have you tried taking a look at the web pages of Peruvian universities? :-)

Ccias. Sociales

Suerte

I hope u understand some Spanish, if not I´ll tranlate for u.

Cheers

investigador, cátedra de humanidades

Aunque aquí hablamos de Facultad de Humanidades, "department" parece ser "cátedra". Suerte!

What Universities in Peru do you work at? What do they use?
Note from asker:
But the university has no Spanish standardization (in fact it is Dutch) for the dept/faculty... Which sounds better?

Investigador. Departamento de Humanidades

The following link is from a Peruvian University, and I believe this is what you wanted to be assured of.
Hope it helps.

agree María Diehn : The Spanish is 100% ok: El Instituto de Ciencias para la Familia no tiene investigadores propios; ... Subdirector del Departamento de Humanidades de la Universidad de Piura.

Gracias María, por el agree y por el dato!
agree mavicmar : I think that there's a difference between SCHOOL (facultad/escuela) AND DEPARTMENT (departamento dentro de la "School") when speaking about universities!!! POr eso creo que esta es la opcion correcta.
