VMC Hygro-réglable

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
La VMC sera de type hygro-réglable;
The air extractor system will be capable of moisture regulation?

humidity-controlled

I think you'll find that this is possibly slightly imprecise use of the term; AFAIK, VMC systems are not usually capable of in any way 'adjusting' humidity levels (since they are normally extract only)

I believe this is in fact a very common system whereby the VMC is switched on by a hygrostat that measures the humidity in (say) the bathroom, and switches on the ventilation only when it senses excess humidity.

Of course, you're right! I thought it was only the 'hydro-réglable' bit you were bothered about, but VMC = (mechanical) ventilation system

Thanks Tony. Great!I'll remember you in my Will.
I meant of course, in Your Will? Does that help? Less impatient now?

agree Mary Carroll Richer LaFlèche : Could also call it a de-humidifier..VMC

Thanks, Mary! Up to a point, I suppose, yes... though its rôle as a dehumidifier is really rather a passive one
agree Bourth (X) : Sophisticated VMC can be combined input and extract; humidity control takes it one step closer to air conditioning.

Thanks, Alex, and for that helpful extra info.

DVS

Talking to a NZ friend about a totally unrelated matter, the expression DVS for dehumidifying ventilation system was brought into the conversation. It appears to be a registered trade name, but might be worth looking into.
Note from asker:
Thanks B. Nobody's actually translated VMC yet. It's French you know, tho' we tend to forget. It wasn't my mate Nigel in Wangarei, was it?
