But I agree with PEO_625, my answer is NOT for the context of chemistry/medicine, but it is the translation of arrastre basal in such things as stress modelling

Is it possible that your document was translated into Spanish at some point and perhaps the term is slightly off? I think that using the term "drag" by itself would be sufficient.
