Und auf ihren rein weißen Rosengarten, in dem nur die Sorte "Iceberg" wächst. Wohl durchdacht ist auch die Anpflanzung bei den Gästebungalows: Hier klettern ***Jasmin und Solanum***, blühen Nicotiana und Lilien - erlaubt ist nur, was die Gäste nachts mit betörendem Duft umfängt.
I am a wee bit confused as to what they mean here. Do they mean Jasmine (Jasiminum officinalis - for example) and Solanum (i.e. the generic term for one species of the Solanaceae family). Or is it a type and do they really mean Jasmin Solanum i.e. Solanum jasminoides - the Potato vine? Or do they mean Falscher Jasmin and one species of Solanum? I am confused, are you? I hope so!!!:-) No, honestly, I and I am sure it's perfectly simple and I'm simply reading too much into it.
BTW, no italics have been used in the original (or here because I don't know how to!), so I can't tell whether Solanum is a common name or scientific name.
I'd be grateful for any ideas to make me a bit less confused.

If it's a German bungalow garden, you can bet your bottom dollar it's the blue-blossoming Solanum and Falscher Jasmin - the English name escapes me st the moment - Mock orange???

I don't think you can read more into this than is actually given, and jasmine & solanum seems a reasonable translation, referring broadly to a range of plants within each genus.

: see no problem with this and they definitely come in climbing forms. As no italics are used, I would not capitalise them either, just treat as if they were common names.
