Mohamed Ghazal May 9, 2008:
"is"... excuse the typo.
Mohamed Ghazal May 9, 2008:
Mr Tamer Fofo, What Saleh was trying to say is that Kudoz if for "terms" that translators may struggle with, and not for "whole sentences" that need to be translated.
tamerfofo (X) (asker) May 8, 2008:
thank u saleh, actually it is a poetic line occured in a novel , needed to be translated completely
Saleh Dardeer May 8, 2008:
Could you add more context and specify where is the difficult part?

Thanks!

Sound the trumpet in Africa, peoples thereof were yesterday taken down to the lowest

SOUNDING OF, ILLUSTRATIVE OF: God's power to raise the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. from site below.
I chose "taken down" as alternative for degraded, to stress the opposition to "raise' from death, which is not stated, but implied by "sound the trumpet".

Take down: 1. To bring to a lower position from a higher one, degrade

Let pictures puff in Africa with many a nations yesterday that has been descended to degradation

I hope this will be helpful.

disagree Maureen Millington-Brodie : this is utter nonsense and a good example of why a professional translator should only translate into their mother tongue. It's "disagreement could be expressed". Please don't take it personally, its in the interests of Proz to be as professional as poss

Disagreement could be said in a more polite way!!!
