what is the meaning of "funeral choice"?

The developers of the subordinate modules are closer to the users and therefore know the right way to display prescriptions and funeral choices and so on.

I don't think there is any unique meaning here to the software industry. I would like more context, but the coupling with "prescriptions" makes me think this is being used as an example of how a computer can display medical prescriptions and a patient's choices about their funeral.
Examples of a "funeral choice" might be: Do you want to be bury or cremated? What songs do you want sung at your funeral? Do you want the funeral to happen in a church? ... and so on.
Google didn't seem to give any evidence that "funeral choice" is used non-traditionally in the computer industry.

: Ok, but I was trying to rule out the possibility of a mistake in the text itself, as prescriptions and death in one sentence could lead to some interesting interpretation.

I agree we need more context. Based on the information I have, this is my best suggestion with the caveat that it only fits the context I describe. I wish the users of this service would provide more context in their questions! Thank you.
