Spanish term
prioriza
Spanish to English
Social Sciences
Medical (general)
I am very confused about how to translate the whole of the following section. I can't make head nor tail of it. It appears in a Red Cross text about care for the elderly and more specifically, the promotion of healthy ageing.
Por un lado, la de Atención a la dependencia que prioriza las personas en situación de dependencia y el cuidado al cuidador principal y por el otro, el área de Promoción del envejecimiento saludable.
Below is this section in a little more context:

Note from asker:
Thanks, Claudia. Translating "prioriza" as "focuses on" now makes more sense of the sentence in which it appears. |

On the one hand, that of "Attention to Dependency" which gives priority to people deprived of their autonomy and to their caretakers, and on the other to the issue of the Promotion of healthy aging

Note from asker:
I understand the meaning of "prioriza" What I don't understand is the meaning of the section in which it appears. Sorry if I did not make this clear enough in my original request. |

Roxanna Delgado
: Right on. But "giveS priority to" because the subject is the third person of singular.

Muriel Vasconcellos
: Not appropriate for the context. The word has a much broader meaning than "prioritize" in Spanish.

Thank you for your comment Muriel, I still can't think of a better word for it though...
