Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

I think it's a little trick the developers played on the client. I don't actually know what they meant by it though.

One thought is that by spoon they meant whatever device is needed to carry out a certain task. For instance, the memory card.

: Given the proclivities of programmers, it could well be a quotation from The Matrix. As you noted, the intended meaning is less than obvious.

As much as I appreciate Michael's answer for its entertainment value, this is probably a typo or other sort of error. However, as the term 'fork' is used in the software world to refer to a component of a file consising of two related components or a path of a conditional execution process, it is conceivable that a programmer somewhere has given some sort of software object the name 'spoon' (programmers are known to have warped senses of humour).
My recommendation is to ask the client for clarification. If it isn't an error, it is jargon and meaningless to the average user.

: It may well be from The Matrix, but you should ask your client for clarification. It's a reference obscure enough for most people that more information is necessary.

: I totally agree - this must be cleared with the client before proceeding with translation.
