English term

fold back

English Other Other psychological test
Fold this page back and present the Figure Copy Drawing Page along with the stimulus.
[what does it mean - to open the page in order to reveal its contents or to close it to hide its contents?]

Discussion

In other words: Comprehension of the instructions could be the test itself.
Cynthia Plac (X) Mar 27, 2008:
If you were given other information about the test itself, could the results be based on the actual "directions/instructions". This is a common testing method in psychology, so be careful!
veratek Mar 27, 2008:
and what does the "stimulus" term refer to?
veratek Mar 27, 2008:
"[what does it mean?]" It means the person who wrote this doesn't have a clue about speaking English... Seriously, do you happen to know what is the native language of the author?

explanation given

I get it now, something like instructions for a psychology test. (thanks for not answering my previous question or giving any more context)

[Fold this page back and present the "Figure Copy Drawing" Page along with the stimulus.]

you should fold the page back ("this page"), so that you can present this other page ("Figure Copy Drawing" page) along with the relevant stimulus (probably some kind of picture...)

fold page back along certain line

I'm not really sure, but I think this means you're meant to fold a page back along a certain line (dotted line or fold) in order to reveal a certain image (I don't really get the rest of the sentence).

That's the best example I could come up with http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=wGwc9DDzsA0C&pg=PA87&lpg=...

To answer your question, I believe it means "open" not "close", but as I said, don't open fully, only along a certain line.
