Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Mar 25, 2008:
Thank you, Steffen, so much for clarifying this!
Steffen Walter Mar 25, 2008:
Post-grading note: Ad 1) is just "Item 1" of an enumeration (Latin origin; Ad 1), Ad 2) etc.).
Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Mar 22, 2008:
Welcome, Nicole.
Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Mar 18, 2008:
Could Ad stand for "atopische Dermatitis"? This is a German acronym for this condition.
Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Mar 18, 2008:
Nicole: I am not sure about "Ad".... It should be something simple though... I will let you k now.

continuous ice cube cooling

This seems to be the standard way of putting this (does not seem to be a technical expression): so:

transcutaneous Nd:YAG last treatment (application) with continuous ice cube cooling

Transcutaneous application
Direct transcutaneous application
Transcutaneous laser application with cooling chamber
** Transcutaneous laser application with continuous ice cube cooling **
Percutaneous laser application
Percutaneous interstitial bare fiber technique
Endoscopic application
Pulsed Nd:YAG laser
Laser treatment of port-wine stains
Laser treatment of hemangiomas
Laser treatment of vascular malformations

Sorry: should be "laser application", not "last application", above.

May be it would be better to specify as "protective"

transcutaneous laser treatment with protective (continuous) ice cube cooling

I would say Ad = atopische Dermatitis = atopic dermatitis, except that the "d" should be upper case if that's the translation. Even though in this abstract we see a reference to this, still I am hesitant:

ecently, ** atopic dermatitis ** has been increasing throughout the world, and there have been many labial lentigos caused by a postinflammation of atopic dermatitis.1 Laser therapy, such as the normal ruby laser2 and the Q-switched ruby laser,3 is one of the treatment methods. We make the first report of 4 cases of labial lentigos in atopic dermatitis treated with the frequency-doubled Q-switched ** Nd:YAG laser ** at a wavelength of 532 nm. We achieved rapid results and a dramatic clearing of the lesions without cutaneous alterations in skin texture.
