English term
clarify the point please
Dear native English speakers!
Please help me clarify what they mean by the sentence asterisked - I can't really get the point. What does it have to do with the previous sentences?
P.S. It's a drummer talking.

a) having a conversation (in this case: the "dialogue" between the musician and the public)
and
b) someone stepping in (in this case: a musician who just shows himself, not playing real music, and not establishing any "dialogue" with the public)
put the music first; don't show off technique
