entrance corridor
http://www.hdmagazine.co.uk/story.asp?storyCode=2023879 gives an example, although I think that this still does not refer to the separate (smaller) entrance corridor to each patient room (which is meant here IMHO):
"The layout of the building reflects the needs of the two main user groups. The hospital and clinical blocks are slightly offset from each other and are built around two internal courtyards. These blocks are separated from the smaller GP surgeries by a double height entrance hall - a spine corridor running through the middle of the complex with curtain walls and sliding doors to access the GP practices. Projecting like fingers from the ***entrance corridor***, the GP surgeries are separated from each other by garden courtyards –again bringing light flooding in to patient areas."
That being said, I do think that "entrance corridor" fits the bill in this case.

Comment: "Thanks for all your suggestions. I went for this as I think it's fits the best in this case."
5 mins
Foyer
I think they just mean the little area between the hallway and the actual room. Usually there is a closet and the door to the bathroom.
1 hr
entrance hall
would be my guess

Steffen Walter
: An entrance HALL to patient rooms on a ward? Never heard of in this context.

Most apts. have an entrance 'hall', it can be as little space as you may need to turn around. Don't take the 'hall' literally. 'Vestibule'

22 hrs
lobby area
I like this because it could also be quite a small space as implied in the text
1 day 12 hrs
entrance area
