Spanish term

entrantes de costa

Spanish to English Science Science (general) marine environments

(flecha arenosa = sand bar/spit/bank)

Not many hits for this term in Spanish, so few leads to go on.

TIA:-)

Discussion

Lia Fail (X) (asker) Sep 19, 2007:
I don't think it's about access I think it's a geographic term, just like marisma=salt marsh, bahia cerrado=closed bay, and flecha aremosa=snad spit

coastal inlets

podría se embayment:(1) An indentation in a shoreline forming an open BAY. (2) The formation of a BAY.
pero ya existe el término bahía

Otra, estuario: Estuary: (1) A semi-enclosed coastal body of water which has a free connection with the open sea. The seawater is usually measurably diluted with freshwater

Y también: Inlet: (1) A narrow strip of water running into the land or between islands. (2) An arm of the sea (or other body of water) that is long compared to its width, and that may extend a considerable distance inland.
que es la que creo que más se acerca si esas "entrantes de costa" son relativamente angostas

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "inlets seems about right, with closed bays or inlets partially closed off by a sandspit."
