Christopher Burin (asker) Jul 23, 2007:
Thanks. The source document I have reads "sous seeing", not "sous seing", hence why I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Cheers.

If you do a proz.com search you'll find there are already quite a few entries for this. It's 'acte sous SEING privé'

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : but it's not a deed. it's an agreement/contract. see any dictionary and/or the glossary. 5 CL should include refs. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1931172

I used Collins-Robert bus. dict for this, but "private contract" also works
neutral Jean-Claude Gouin : A "private contract" is better than a "private deed". The contract is not registered anywhere, like the Land Registry; the notary/lawyer has a copy in his/her office and the participants in the "private contract" also have a copy.

neutral Richard Benham : Maybe Chris is "seeing" things?
