I don't know of a specific phrase in IT.
Instead of translating 候補, if there is the appropriate noun from the text, I would insert that in parenthesis "Reason for selecting [***]" so that shows that it's the translator's supplement to make the sentence more clear. Otherwise I would use "Reason for selection"
