The meaning is 「商品を風呂敷に包んで運び、差益を稼ぐ」 ie, as in carrying items to a town market to sell, but I can't seem to extract what the English (??) might be here. Any ideas?

My understanding of "ポッタリジャンサ"is a person (Korean) who cross over Genkai-Nada (the sea between Korea and West of Kyushu [Japan]) to bring commercial goods to Japan, and now it is used, in Japanese, to decribe anybody who peddles in and out of Japan.
