French term

pour sentir le grain de peau

French to English Marketing Cosmetics, Beauty makeup marketing

thank you, thank you! the difficulty will now be in selecting one of your suggestions! exactly the jump-start my poor brain needed. Good evening to you both!
NancyLynn (asker) Mar 13, 2007:
absolutely right. My bad: unfortunately I forgot to add that the client has supplied a glossary, and that "fusion des matieres" is merging textures... and therein lies my problem.

to feel the skin's texture

I think texture conveys the meaning of 'grain' well.

In that case, how about surface? Relief is another word I see a lot in this context. Or, suggest materials or ingredients instead of textures in the first phrase to your client.
Peer comment(s):

agree Ana Mihaela Cocoşilă : I think it refers to the beauty of the complexion "le grain de beauté sur la peau" = the mole

(that offers) a translucent finish

I don't think it is actually about FEELING the skin - more a focus on the PERCEPTION of skin texture
