French term

réservoir anti-bélier

French to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation water abstraction system
Still from the same document on a water abstraction system for a power plant.

- un collecteur sur lequel sont raccordées les deux lignes de refoulement et un réservoir anti bélier.

This yet another part of the process. My searches are bringing up "anti-waterhammer tank", but not with a huge amount of conviction. Is this the correct English term or is there something more succinct?

Many thanks

surge chamber, surge tank

What you have on hydro power projects.

surge chamber. A chamber or tank connected to a pipe and located at or near a valve that may quickly open or close or a pump that may suddenly start or stop. When the flow of water in a pipe starts or stops quickly, the surge chamber allows water to flow into or out of the pipe and minimize any sudden positive or negative pressure waves or surges in the pipe.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks again Alex - I prefer this one as anti-waterhammer or variations thereof sound a bit long-winded to me. "

anti-ram tank

French is not one of my languages, but I sometimes like to research a bit into technical areas, as it can help me in the future with my own language fields.

Perhaps this is what you are looking for? Not many Googel hits, though!

Hope it helps. Maybe to set you off in a new direction!

It appears that my answer may infact relate more to gadgets made for household use whereas Bourth's answer correctly addresses industrial applications.
