Italian term

chef "stellati"

Italian to English Other Cooking / Culinary culinary expertise
"XXXX, una prestigiosa manifestazione che vede alcuni tra i maggiori chef “stellati” d’Italia."

This is the only context I have; I was wondering if others would interpret this as being Michelin stars, or simply top chefs? Thanks :-)

(Michelin-) starred chefs

It isn't clear whether this refers to Michelin or something else, so I'd be tempted to ask your client, but I just wanted to put forward "Michelin-starred chefs" as an option. This tends to be the way it is used in the multitude of programmes on the TV at the moment.

I did find an instance of "starred chefs" being used (without the "Michelin") in the Observer, although I can't say I'm a huge fan: "This year will also see a wave of exciting cooking with a Portuguese and Spanish influence, and starred chefs will drop their dafter flights of fancy in favour of perfecting dishes we know all too well."
Good luck.

agree Melissa Stanfield : I would have to agree - if it is to be used together with the word "Michelin", 'starred' seems more common, but without Michelin I'm not a fan either - so either "Michelin-starred" or "star-rated" ;)

Yes, I would interpret this as meaning they are star-rated - and the implication being that the star rating is good ;)
