Dear Ed, it will be pretty difficult for you to select the best answer, as ALL of them are the same.

Boldog új évet / Boldog új esztendőt !!!

Let me put my mite in here as well:

Happy = Boldog
New = új
Year = 1)esztendő
2) év

From these words you can put together the following phrases, all of which will be correct:

1)Boldog új év
2)Boldog új esztendő (more of a high-flown style)
or
3)BUEK - Boldog új évet kívánok (kívánunk ) = I (we) wish you a Happy New Year!

Good luck!

Sorry, which note are we talking about? I only have an answer here, no notes added. Or is it the one to the Asker, above? Anyway, as I see with my answer everything is OK, just something else bothers you.
disagree Elvira Stoianov : I must agree with ivw, since Boldog uj ev is never used in the form of happy new year

Boldog Új Évet!

It is definitely the correct spelling!

disagree Palko Agi : It is definitely not! Nem tudom, miért nem veszitek elő a helyesírási szabályzatot! Miért kellene minden szót nagybetűvel kezdeni?! Ugyanaz a szabáy vonatkozik rá, mint pl. erre: Jó napot.

boldog új évet

The traditional New Year's greeting in Hungarian (if this is what you wish to find out) is
Boldog új évet!
(less common, slightly archaic: Boldog új esztendőt!)
Short form: BUÉK! (acronym for 'Wishing you a Happy New Year' = 'Boldog Új Évet Kívánok')

You can also capitalize all three words if it is, say, a greeting card, a crawler, etc.:
Happy New Year! = Boldog Új Évet!

happy (adj.) = boldog
new (adj.) = új
year (noun) = év (in this phrase: 'évet' - governing accusative) OR esztendő (acc.: esztendőt)

This is only a clarification, not an answer:

"OlgaSimon: Dear Ed, it will be pretty difficult for you to select the best answer, as ALL of them are the same."

No, they are NOT the same. I am shocked a 'professional linguist' can say such a thing, failing to recognize the subtle differences.
