Chinese term

簡單 (2/3)

Non-PRO Chinese to English Science Education / Pedagogy Grammatical Analysis
Sentence: 那個飯館的菜單很簡單,要是你要吃名貴的菜,到別的飯館去吧。

1st Attempt: The menu at that restaurant is very basic. If you want to eat famous dishes, then go to a different restaurant.

Question 1/3 : Although I have translated 飯館 as restaurant, I am thinking in the back of my mind that it could be rendered differently and with greater precision. For example, doesn't 飯堂 mean cafeteria? In Japan, a restaurant is always one that offers Western dishes.

Question 2/3 : With the assumption that 菜單 refers to items on a menu I have ventured a guess with regard to 簡單 in this context. What do you think? Did I get it?

Question 3/3 : Surely the word 菜 must mean something besides vegetables here! Does dish do the trick?

Hopefully I have gotten everything else at least close to right. Certainly your further comments are welcome.
