A patient is admitted to a mental clinic. The nurse explains:
After the inspection, we take all the things we set aside and we put them into a bin marked with your very name on it, the bin then goes into the sharps closet.

The Sharps containers ('bin' in this case perhaps) are used to store discarded materials, such as used needles, bandages, etc. It seems to me that in this hospital they have a separate Sharps container for each patient and these containers or bins are stored in the Sharps closet. These types of containers are used to keep discarded bio-hazard materials until the time that they can be disposed of properly.

: Here I think the context would imply the patient's items are to be kept out of harm's way iuntil the pt is discharged, rather than stored prior to imminent disposal.
