See explanation below...
the word parenteral is defined as:
adjective:
- inside the body but outside the intestine
- brought into the body through some other way than the digestive tract, as by subcutaneous or intravenous injection
noun:
a substance for parenteral injection
I suspect your "parenteral" is a noun, it describes the "packaging" that the parenteral substance is packed in.
See the web link I have given...-

It's possible that you (and maybe Anna Maria) have been confusing this word with "parental" which means "to do with parents", thus giving the suggestion of primary?

The first reference which Petya gives is clearly an error. Dictionary definition of "parental" is given thus:
- of or characteristic of a parent or parents
- constituting the source or origin of something
- (Biology) designating or the generation in which fertilization produces hybrids.
Only the second meaning could fit the "packaging" context here, but seems very unlikely to me. :-)

parenteral/parental packaging
Many parenteral packaging suppliers are devising new ways to hold and deliver pharmaceuticals to help make an end-user's job easier. "Prefilled needleless syringes are gaining popularity,
AND:
Parental packaging innovations and applications have made devices easier to use for both the healthcare professional and the patient.
Prefilled syringes have actually been around for more than two decades.
I see no difference....or i am mistaken :-)
