Haitian peasants often flock to the border towns awaiting opportunities to escape poverty in Haiti for what they imagine will be a better life in the Dominican Republic. Nevertheless, life in the Dominican Republic has not been positive either. The butterfly symbolizes **the randomless, directionless existence** of the Haitian workers. Now, forced to leave, owing to the feeling that they were no longer wanted in the Dominican Republic, they cross the border and never look back to the "llano de los últimos vuelos."

IMHO, espero no pecar de subjetivo si interpreto un poco por conocer algo de la situación.

Contraro a "random" (azaroza, al azar, no intencionada) entonces, "una existencia/situación/Vida que NO ha sido resultado del azar, sino que es el producto de un proceso evitable (No es asunto del azar, ellos mismos, los haitianos, la han ocasionado y quizá, pudo habese evitado)
