Sempre quis saber como se diz DIA DE FINADOS(também conhecido como DIA DOS MORTOS) em inglês. Pensei que fosse Memorial Day, mas me disseram que não. Alguém poderia me ajudar?

: One can see the religious culture of every one.. :)) The one you mention was yesterday, and the only one that is correct. Have a good Day.

: I stand corrected on All Saints Day. Those are religious holidays, but not secular holidays. For me, it's alien to think of a religious holiday (other than Christmas) being a national holiday.

Muriel, All Saints Day is on November 1st and All Souls Day is on November 2nd - 2 separate and different church holidays! Day of the Dead is not the correct name designated by the church no matter how many hits

: without any shadow of a doubt. People that use google constantly to confirm the validity of translations need their heads testing - especially when using English.

I agree that we put too much faith in Googling terms, although it does come in handy! What should be noted is that in this case, it's a national "religious" holiday, hence All Souls Day.

: I really don't think so, Robert! The Day of the Dead sounds like the title of a horror film! I confess I've referred to it this way myself :-), but it's not the official name designated by the Catholic Church

Well, there are numerous references for "Day of the Dead" in the context of 1 November on Yahoo! and I've also heard it many times in English.... ;-)

: All Souls Day is the correct and only answer. One can not just "fabricate"

: "All Souls Day" is the religious name. "The Day of the Dead" is WIDELY used in English (over 3 million references!).

: There's something mixed up in Muriel's comment: All Saints Day is November 1st. All Souls Day is November 2nd. They are not the same holiday.

: Day of the Dead would not be wrong in a certain context, especially if talking about the Mexican Celebration. (The poster does not mention Brazil!)
