English term

"off the back foot"

English to German Marketing Other staff newsletter
Aus den Mitarbeiterinformationen einer Werbeagentur:

"The demoralizing loss of revenue that occurred in 2003 and 2004 has been stemmed due to the focus and energy of many of you. After all, there is no value in filling the bucket at the top in order for it to leak out of the bottom. We are now ***off the back foot*** and looking at how we can systematically begin to grow relationships again such as (VARIOUS GLOBAL CLIENTS) etc.

Meine eigenen Ideen gefallen mir nicht besonders, wäre deshalb dankbar für Anregungen..

von nun an vorwarts hinausschauen

cricketing terminology implying a batsman fighting a rearguard action, whereas if he was batting off the front foot,i.e.the bowlers were running scared of him, this would allow him to score more runs and enable him to fulfill his role in the team better. Can also be applied to Boxing.
