English term

Fire

English to Czech Tech/Engineering Engineering (general)
My friend has put together a motorcycle at home and wants to name it "Fire" in Czech. Could you please let me know what the word for that would be considering the context.

neutral Hana Chupikova : According to the motorcycle it may mean: "zážeh" (ignition) or "střílení do výfuku" (back fire).

Do you think that the name of the motorcycle would sound " Střílení do výfuku"?
agree Johan Venter : Sounds good to me! Driving around on Ohen

thank you, but it is not mine :-)
agree Lubosh Hanuska : Plamen would be a great name for motorcycle... "ohen" sounds a bit static :-)

thank you :-)
disagree Radovan Pletka : see my translation and explanation

read carefully!!!
agree Jan Zeman : I'd vote for "plamen". Sounds best as for marketing purposes. Any translation is good as long as the bike does not "catch fire":-)

zážeh, střílení do výfuku.

Hi,
FIRE may mean: "zážeh" (ignition) or "střílení do výfuku" (back fire). In case of accurate target term we must know the context.

neutral Johan Venter : The decent thing to do would be to change your neutral to an agree or remove it from Jan Kolbaba after reading your note above...

jiskra

fire in engine terminology is a spark, which ignites gasoline fumes and therefore the correct translation is jiskra.
All the other translations are WRONG.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Jan Kolbaba : dear sir, we are looking for a name of the bike !! I must say that the name "JISKRA" is nice too. But asker wants to name it as FIRE not as SPARK

Yes, it is nice too, and the fact it is correct translation, will not hurt either. Ohen, give me a break!
