Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Projectors and Augmented Reality
Context:

glass slides are projected by mean of light canyons

This is it
Peer comment(s):

neutral Maria Karra : Ernesto, what are light canyons? I'd never heard of the term, so I googled it and I only found one link related to optics, which is a translation from the Spanish; the rest are related to a music group. Do you have any references?

Thank you Maria You are completely right! It should be light-guns and not light canyons

glass slide projector

In the sample paragraph you're comparing old vs new methods of displaying images in large format. The widely used LCD Projector is the one which connects to and from a laptop or desktop computer to project video, presentation and music on largre screens. The Cathedrales en Lumieres project is just that, in which a famous or not painting is projected into the main facade of the cathedral using several synched LCD Projector.basiclly

Old projectors used in universities and alike were basically a light box with a projector lens in which a glass slide was put between the light source and the lens, this was used because of the hight temperatures reached inside the light box, hence the glass. Also these where static projections as you describe in the text. Today's LCD Projectors are obviously dynamic since they're hooked to a computer.

In short, the projector described as beign used at Amiens is the old type one, a glass slide projector. The 'canyon light gun' or 'canyons of light' are dismissed and floodlight is a word used to describe a photographic equipment.

here\'s more info on the subject of old glass slide projectors, the predecessor of the Kodak Slide Film Projector still used in some places.
