English term

vessel path

English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime
How should I call a vessel path in the sea?
I cannot remember the word. It is one word, I think. It describes the course of vessel in see, setting out the all kinds of ports (destinatin, transit etc)

Thank you

Thank you Vicky!
agree Robert Donahue (X) : As George noted, "float plan" for pleasure craft and "itinerary" for bigger vessels. Not sure that either will work from a military standpoint though (only throwing that out there since it's not clear what type of ship we're talking about).

It might be \'itinerary\', which is perhaps more appropriate when thinking about ports of call etc.

\'passage\' is a fairly old-fashioned sounding word, but my own feeling is that it probably relates more to the way the journey unfolds from the ship\'s, rather than a geographical, perspective.

Yes, as I said, it appears the term is used manly in the case of pleasure craft. I have not been able to find "float plan" in reference to commercial ships
