reaped

English to Spanish Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Poetry
Rodrigo.

***I, whose exploits have reaped so much glory,***
I, who, in times past, knew naught but victory,
Am now too old,
And feel defeated and affronted.

Rodrigo..Please let one of the moderators knows. Either of them would be glad to change the points, no problem. :) :)
Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) May 7, 2005:
After I changed it to acocechado..which is cocechado..the fact is I said I had spelling errors but apart from that, it is not a bad translation considering you said you didn't understand the English at all..il faut savoir ce que l'on veut....,cheers Jane
Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) May 7, 2005:
Yes it is cosechado..technically...reap and sow are not the same thing..I said that at the end. And I also said that I can't write in Spanish though the flow is usually right. First you praise me and now you talk about spelling errors? No problem.

Rodrigo.

Yo, que en tiempos pasados,
He conocido solo victorias
Estoy ya tan viejo
Me siento vencido, desminuido...

Please note: It it not the \"I\" that has reaped the glory of the exploits..It is the exploits....

I missed the word yes...but I did give a feeling for the sense of the poem which the asker said had a difficult first line.

Let everyone know: I answered this quickly, I was wrong, I made a mistake between sembrar and cocechar...Even great translators make mistakes. The question is: do they acknowledge them publicly?

Please note; Spanish is my fourth, I say fourth language..

cheers

ahora soy demasiado viejo,
y me siento derrotado y ofendido.

¡Gracias!
disagree Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : no...it does not say I have reaped glory from my acts..that is precisely the point...it does not say that...it says in English..the exploits reaped the glory, not me.....so...

It still is cosechar. And you are so cruel and agressive commenting on other people, humiliating as much as you can as if you were god mother that you should be prudent getting into spanish questions.

Je me vois aujourd'hui pour avoir trop vécu,
Recevoir un affront et demeurer vaincu. "

Tanto he vivido que si ahora recibo

Peer comment(s):
