Autobiography: Şu dağın ardı İran – Meltem Vural
Greetings,
In this passage the author talks about her Iranian husband’s admission of possible infertility resulting from a disease which he had had treated too late owing to feelings of shame.
Nasıl unutabilirdim ki? Nişanlıyken söylemişti. Donup kalmıştım. Aklımı ve gözümü bağlayan aşk mıydı; eksiliğini itiraf eden bir insanı yarı yolda bırakamama fedailiği miydi bilemiyorum ama, hemen toparlanıp "Olsun! ‘Belki’ diyorsun. Belki de olur!" diye bardağın dolu yanıyla yanıtlamıştım.
All the best, and many thanks,
Simon

In order to translate this phrase in a non-literal way, we can use the expression "looking at the positive side of [something]".

In the example you give, we can say "I replied xxxx, looking at the positive side of the issue".

: Bu bir terim. Kelime kelime çevrilse bile, tuhaf kaçar gibi geliyor bana. Garipsenir. Bu nedenle, ben bu yoruma katılıyorum. Doğru olan budur görüşündeyim. It's raining cats and dogs deyimini Türkçe'ye kelime kelime çevirsek ne olur?

"raining cats and dogs" doğru örnek değil.
