Hi this is part of a Doctorate course and relates to research in various fields. The phrase is driving me mad and says:
"Los profesores doctores del departamento que trabajan en este campo y que pueden orientar la investigación de los estudiantes son: ...". is it possible to 'orientar investgacion?'. I was thinking of something along the lines of:
"The professors of the department who work in this field and can GUIDE STUDENTS in their research are" but I don't think it's quite the same meaning, although it makes more sense to me expressed like this. Any ideas? Thanks as always.

May be a bit repetitive, but here's my example:
y que pueden orientar la investigación de los estudiantes son = and who are able to guide students in (their) research are
"their" is optional
y que pueden orientar la investigación de los estudiantes son = and who are able to guide students in (their) research are
"their" is optional

Comment: "Thanks Henry, and to everyone for their input, just wanted to make sure I wasn't changing the meaning slightly, and yes it was a text from a linguistics dept!"

I think you could justifiably say \"offer students guidance in terms of research\" here.
