acronyms - hospital departments
This acronym appears in the name of a hospital anatomical pathology department: "UOC Anatomia e Istologia Patologica CLOPD". I find this online alongside the names of many hospital and medical organizations (" Fornitura in opera cartelli informativi interni all'edificio "CLOPD" dell'A.O.U... for example" but can't find anything that expands what these letters stand for.
Anyone know what these letters stand for, and how we translate the words into English?
Thanks for your help.

Commonly known as a "shot in the dark"!
CLOPD does indeed stand for the above, but not sure it fits your context.
Good luck and buon lavoro :-)

Note from asker:
Ciao Fiona, thank you for this prompt reply. I also found this Corso di Laurea after I posted the question, and also can't understand why the acronym would appear in the context of a hospital pathological anatomy and histology unit. Let's see what our colleagues may add. Grazie di nuovo. |

Discussion
And, on the subject of "implantology", I remember that a few years ago a dentist also objected to "odontoiatria" being translated as "dentistry" !
...but it was 5 years until 2009/2010

In Italy, Dentistry, like Medicine, is known as a Laurea Magistrale a Ciclo Unico (meaning they're not divided into the bacheor's (3y) plus master's (2y) components. Medicine is 6 years and Dentistry is 5, and you access them with a secondary school diploma and an entrance test.
I'd probably just use the acronym plus "school of dentistry" as it's just indicating that it's one of the 3 pathological anatomy departments of the hospital http://www.sanita.padova.it/reparti/,3

Italian translations are more oriented to dental implants/implantology, I think we are talking of oral surgery rather than making false teeth
