Les bactéries aérobies revivifiables sont les germes que l’on est capable de cultiver, dans un environnement oxygéné (facteur indispensable) à 22 ou 37°C. Elles représentent le plus grand nombre de bactéries présentes dans l’eau que l’on puisse cultiver. On pense que cette estimation est très éloignée de la flore réelle de l’eau. En effet, selon les chercheurs, on ne saurait cultiver que moins du quart des germes présents dans le milieu naturel.
