Certainly "frutas de pepita" seems to be used to refer to apples and pears, but I'm not convinced that the term is an exact equivalent of what "top fruit" means in English (i.e. fruit grown on trees). "Pepita" here refers to pips as opposed to stones (huesos).

Si se refiere a la comercializacion de frutas seria fruta de primera calidad. Pero si se refiere a la fruta que esta en el arbol, es decir su ubicacion, puede ser la fruta de la parte superior de arbol. Falta el contexto.
