Discussion

philgoddard Mar 9, 2016:
I think M may be multiple pregnancies and A abortions.
Anne Schulz Mar 9, 2016:
Could the O's be zeros? G0P0 is a common obstetrical information meaning no pregnancy (graviditas), no delivery (partus).

Ik heb zitten dubben over 'M'.
Ik heb uiteindelijk voor 'M(iskraam)' gekozen.

M vs A is mogelijk bedoeld om onderscheid te maken tussen 'Miskraam' en A(bortus provocatus)

Katerina, Phil found a reference that might support the 'M'

You could try Google: "GPMA" "miscarriage" for further "M support"

Example:

GPMA Gravida - number of pregnancies Para - number of living children Abortion - number of abortions Miscarriage - number of spontaneous abortions or still births Example: G3P2M0A1 - patient had 3 pregnancies with 2 live births and 1 abortion

neutral philgoddard : Are you sure about M? All the rest are Latin. According to your reference, M appears to mean "multipara".//Yes, I think you're right. It's near the bottom here: http://www.ultrasoundregistryreview.com/OBTrial4.html

'multipara' is no option. In this system 'multipara' is part of 'para'. That is, para = 3 or >3. For example G 4 P 3 A 1. // Thank you, at least some evidence.
agree Anne Schulz : I did wonder whether A would stand for abortus, but had no idea what the M could be...

Thank you, Anna. I wasn't sure either and could not find any confirmation online, was left to my brain's own devices.
