- A type of Internet fraud whereby the “header” of an email message is falsified to appear to come from a different sender’s address. This type of criminal activity is commonly used to deliver SPAM email, or for the purposes of fraud. Parliament House, Victoria

- "spoofing" is een vaste term voor het maskeren/vervalsen van een bron of afzender. Zo is er naast "e-mail spoofing" (het vervalsen van een afzender van een e-mailbericht) bijvoorbeeld ook "IP spoofing" waarbij het bronadres van een IP pakketje een ander IP adres heeft dan de werkelijke machine die het verstuurt. - Фалсификување на електронската пошта е термин што означува испраќање електронска порака така што адресата на испраќачот и други сегменти од пораката се изменети со цел да наликуваат на пошта добиена од друг испраќач.
Во името на македонскиот јазик, сметам дека фалсификувана е-пошта (или електронска пошта) е многу поосодветен термин од терминот спуф-имејл што исто така циркулира на интернет (за среќа многу ретко). Може да се сретне и еквивалентот измамничка е-пошта.
