- Riduzione della capacità di generare potenza utile di una macchina rispetto alla potenza nominale, dovuta al discostarsi delle condizioni operative dalle condizioni di riferimento (o nominali). Esempi di fattori che influenzano maggiormente il declassamento di una macchina: variazione della temperatura, pressione, umidità del fluido di servizio o del fluido di scambio termico, esercizio della macchina in funzionamento diverso da quello di progetto (continuo, intermittente, con parametri elettrici non nominali, etc).

- POTENZA E DECLASSAMENTO
Il valore di potenza indicato e' il massimo disponibile durante una sequenza di potenza variabile (PRP Prime Power) ISO Standard 8528.1 ed e' garantito con una tolleranza di + / - 5% , a motore rodato.
Questo valore si riduce del:
* 1% ogni 100 Mt. di altitudine
* del 2% ogni 5°C al di sopra dei 20°C

- Problemi di altra natura
possono insorgere invece quando il gruppo elettrogeno viene utilizzato in
ambienti dove i valori di temperatura, altitudine e umidità relativa sono più
alti rispetto a quelli di riferimento. È questa una condizione spesso sottovalutata.
La presenza delle suddette condizioni ambientali comporta un declassamento
della massima potenza erogabile dalla macchina, tanto più accentuato,
