Statistisch betrachtet wird jeder siebte Liter Kraftstoff im Leerlauf verbrannt. Die Start-Stop Automatik für den 1,33-I-Dual-VVT-i-motor schaltet den Motor in Stau oder an der Ampel beim Auskuppeln automatisch aus und startet ihn blitzschnell, wenn der Fahrer das Kupplungspedal wieder betätigt. So werden effektive Emissionen gesenkt.
Die neue Valvematic-Technologie zählt zu den Säulen von toyota Optimal Drive. Sie ist eine konsequente Weiterentwicklung der bewährten Dual-VVT-i-Technologie. Das System passt in jeder Fahrsituation nebem den Steuerzeiten auch den Ventilhub exakt an.
Auch die Dieselmotoren-Palette profitiert von den Entwicklungsarbeiten im Rahmen von Toyota Optimal Drive. Alle Dieselmototren sind mit den neuesten Piezo-Einspritzventilen ausgestattet. Durch die präzisere Kraftstoffeinspritzung optimieren sie die Verbrennung und reduzieren des dieseltypische Motorengeräusch auf ein Minimum.
Der neue VN-Turbolader arbeitet bereits bei niedrigen Drehzahlen mit hohem Ladedruck- das Turboloch wird vermieden. Er sorgt für ein deutlich spontaneres Ansprechverhalten und mehr Drehmoment, während der Verbrauch und die Emissionen verringert werden.
Mit dem D-CAT beweist Toyota höchste Kompetenz in zukunftsweisender Technologie und Umweltverträglichkeit. Das innovative Abgasreinigungssytem reduziert nicht nur den Ausstoβ von Ruβpartikeln, sondern aktive auch von Stickoxiden – dies macht den 2.2 D-CAT zu einem der saubersten Dieselmotoren der Welt.
Der Schlüssel zur Steigerung der Verbrennungseffizienz – mehr Leistung aus weniger Kraftstoff zu gewinnen- besteht darin, den Kraftstoff und die angesaugte Luft optimal zu vermischen. Dies wurde durch Feinarbeit am gesamten Ausgangssystem sowohl bei den Dieseln als auch bei den Benzinern erreicht.
Alle neue Toyota modelle sind mit effizienten, besonders reibungsarmen Getriebeverianten ausgestattet. Der Motor verbrennt keinen Kraftstoff zur Erzeugung elektrischer Leistung.
Ein weitere wichtiger Ansatzpunkt bei Toyota Optimal Drive ist die Reduktion des Fahrzeuggewichts. Dieses Ziel vor Augen, ist es den Toyota ingenieuren gelungen, eine Motoren-palette zu entwickkeln, die sich durch besonders leichte und kompakte Konstruktionen auszeichnent.

As per statistics every 7th liter of fuel is burned (in neutral state) while idling. On de-clutching (decoupling) in traffic or at the signal the auto Start-Stop in 1.33-I-Dual-VVT-i engine switches it off automatically and starts it again instantly as the driver operates the clutch. Thus the emissions are effectively reduced.

Also the diesel engine range is benefited from the development activities in the scope of Toyota Optimal Drive. All diesel engines are equipped with the latest Piezo-injection valves. They optimize the combustion and reduce typical knocking of diesel engine to a minimum by the precise fuel injection.
The new VN-turbocharger works readily at low rpm with high charging pressure, so that a turbo-aperture (drop in speed) is avoided. It ensures a significantly spontaneous response and higher torque, while consumption and emission are reduced.
With D-CAT Toyota has proved high competence in cutting edge technology and environment compatibility. The innovative exhausted gas cleaning system not only reduces exhaust of soot particles but also actively reduces that of nitrogen oxide- This makes the 2.2 D-CAT one of the cleanest diesel engines of the world.
The key to the increase in combustion efficiency - to gain more power from lesser fuel - lies in the optimal mixing of fuel and sucked in air. This was achieved through precision work of the entire basic system with diesel as well as petrol.
All new Toyota models are equipped with efficient, especially low friction gear box variants. The multi-drive S gear box offers complete comfort of automatic model with consumption at a level of manual gear box. Sport mode and manual 7-stage-switching mode ensures more lively driving experience.
A further component of Toyota Optimal Drive is the intelligent management of charging board electrical system. The light machine charges (if possible) the battery only when the vehicle is decelerated or slowed down. The engine does not burn fuel for generation of electrical power.
