Spanish to English: General article on prenatal testing Detailed field: Journalism
- Si has sufrido abortos repetidos.

Your Guide to a Worry-Free Pregnancy
To ensure your baby is developing normally it’s important to be aware of some of the most common pre-natal tests you'll need to take during your pregnancy.
Every mother-to-be wants to deliver a healthy baby. That's why most pregnant women follow their obstetrician's advice to the letter, over and above any cravings and whims they may have. In addition to leading a healthy lifestyle, future mums must also take a series of tests during their pregnancy to check on the normal development of their foetus. Some of the screening tests which make up the pre-natal testing programme are simple examinations. All pregnant women usually have the following performed during pregnancy:
□ Ultrasound: this is used to check that the baby is developing normally.
□ Blood test: the presence of certain substances can be detected through a blood test—such as the pregnancy-associated plasma protein A—which will alert your obstetrician to a possible foetal abnormality.
INVASIVE TESTS
In addition to the usual medical tests, your doctor may advise you to take some other, more invasive diagnostic testing if:
• you are over 35 years of age
• you have a history of miscarriages
• you or the father suffer from some type of genetic disorder
• previous tests (ultrasound or blood tests) have indicated possible abnormalities
