English to French: Unconditional's latest collection - Fashion magazine article
Source text - English [...]
Death was the inspiration for Unconditional’s latest collection. His own slightly pessimistic view on the world with global warming and war has been translated into a dark and gothic collection. Depressing as this may sound, looks feature exquisite tailoring and dramatic draping, much of which you would have seen at a 1930’s funeral; especially Philip’s favourite piece which includes a black double breasted suit with lace corsage. ‘I suppose I am obsessed with the thought of the world without ‘man’ and in a way it was a sort of requiem’.
However, despite this dark view, the collection was also inspired by a reaction against the ‘boombox’ generation of London. ‘There is more to London than this’ he says, crediting the likes of the Bloomsbury set and the arts and crafts movement of the twenties. This explains why the Autumn/winter show was held in Mary Ward House, one the finest examples of arts and craft architecture in London and one of the many places where Virginia Wolf used to write. His choice of music – ‘in the mood for love’ hinted towards a composed aesthetic as opposed to the current electro beats he wishes to counteract. Playing and mixing formal with informal, creating ‘street’ pieces with an awareness of heritage and a degree of sophistication emphasise the ‘London’ atmosphere of his style.

A successful partnership relies on communication, trust and respect, and I always show my colleagues and clients a very professional and friendly attitude.
I have over 10 years of experience in the translation industry, both as a project manager and as a translator, which means I have a great insight into the business from both sides of the fence. I have a scientific background, having studied chemistry and environmental science at university, but graduated with an MA in Applied Translation Studies (with distinction) in 2003. I am very interested in science and technology but also have a great passion for languages and the arts, so I like to tackle a wide range of translation subjects.
