APPROACH TO TRANSLATION

I have always enjoyed the study of languages, as it provides the opportunity to both converse with others in their mother tongue and to understand something of their history and heritage. Translation offers the opportunity to express those linguistic and cultural traditions in other languages, a process that enriches both the source and target languages and aids the development of society as a whole. My approach to the discipline is to make full use of all available resources in order to give an accurate portrayal of the source text, in terms of content, coherence and cohesion. However, where appropriate, I am not afraid to reorganise certain aspects of a piece in order to produce a work as clear and concise as that composed by the original author.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

As a result of both my firm academic grounding and my professional experience of working within a company, I feel that I can operate effectively, proactively and efficiently as an individual and as a member of a larger team or network. My experience of the fast-moving French property industry has also required me to develop the ability to function well under pressure and to strict deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, drive or ambition.
