¿Significa esto una traducción literal de "burnout"? Si es así, no hay una traducción tal al español de esta palabra. Quemarse con en trabajo, en México por ejemplo, es cuando uno hecha a perder su reputación por algún error cometido: "Ya me quemé con esa empesa por los errores que cometí." De otra forma, sería cansarse, enfermarse o fastidiarse del trabajo.

En España sí que usamos el término "quemarse" con el significado de "burnout". No creo que sea adecuado decir que no existe en español, simplemente que el significado es diferente según la variante regional del idioma.

Estoy de acuerdo con la traducción 'cansarse, enfermarse o fastidiarse del trabajo'. Creo que 'quemarte con el trabajo' es un uso bastante moderno del sentido de 'quemar' y fruto de la evolución del 'spanglish'

Que yo recuerde, la expresión "estar quemado" para referirse al agotamiento, sobre todo mental tras una actividad intelectual intensa, rutinaria y prolongada, se lleva usando desde que yo era niño, cuando el spanglish no era realmente un problema.
Sería interesante recurrir a diccionarios de la lengua antiguos para buscar esta acepción y determinar si existe desde hace tiempo o no.

Hola bemtrad, estoy de acuerdo contigo. No lo capté al principio porque entendí el contexto y mi mente automáticamente hizo la traducción a "burnout". Sin embargo, tienes razón. La expresión de "estar quemado" en México tiene un significado de sentir una gran vergüenza. Me gustaría saber si otros países de América del Sur comparten la misma expresión, porque parece que en España no hay problema alguno.
