Ein neues Lager war immer ein neuer Anfang, voll neuer Möglichkeiten und Aussichten. Sie schüttelte das Wasser aus ihrem kurzen, krausen Haar und watete zum Ufer zurück. Dann hob sie ihr Bündel hoch über den Kopf und trug es durch den Fluß ans andere Ufer. Sie wusste, wenn sie so die Arme hob, ragten ihre festen Brüste noch angriffslustiger hervor, und das Wasser des Flusses ließ ihren Körper glänzen und all seine Formen noch schöner zur Geltung kommen. Drüben traten gerade die ersten jungen Burschen mit ihrer Jagdbeute aus dem Wald.
