Source text - French Dans un char ce qui compte avant tout c'est l'armement. L'idée qui a présidé à la conception du char AMX 13 était de construire un très puissant canon autonome sous tourelle, très mobile, donc chenillé et le plus léger possible tout en étant bien protégé. Le premier prototype de l'AMX 13 fut construit en 1946. Sa désignation venait de : AMX pour Ateliers de construction d’Issy-les-MoulineauX et 13 indiquant à l’origine le poids du char en tonnes. Les premiers modèles de série sortent des ateliers de Roanne (ARE) en 1955. Au début des années 60, la SOFMA (Société Française de Matériels d'Armement) obtient une commande de 131 chars AMX-13 pour les Pays-Bas, qui sera exécutée en 1962/1963. Spécialement conçu pour l'exportation, le char AMX-13/105 Modèle 58 est équipé de la tourelle F.L. 12, dotée du canon de 105 mm L 44, type 2D, équipé d'un frein de bouche (standard de l'OTAN). Comparativement à la C4, la cylindrée est passée de 1998 à 1 598 cm³. Elle a reçu une bride règlementaire de 32mm et a perdu 15 chevaux pour passer à 300 chevaux au lieu de 315 chevaux. La DS3 est également plus courte avec 3 948 mm contre 4 274 mm pour la C4 et plus légère de 30 kg, soit 1 200 kg comme prévu par le règlement de la FIA. Après une première victoire lors de la deuxième manche au Mexique, elle remporte le championnat du monde des rallyes 2011, s'imposant en tout à dix reprises et donnant un huitième titre à Sébastien Loeb et un septième à Citroën Racing.
